Compatible with Remote FS Extension?

Has anyone tried Local History with Remote FS? I'm not having any luck getting it to save a history. It would be great if it could save a local history when you mount a workspace folder with Remote FS.

I'm guessing this is why the extension didn't work on WSL 2. Since that's merged now, is this actionable?

it's been hours I cant make this plugin working with "ssh remotes" .
How can it be so difficult to save a file locally, regardless of the path/protocol of the file itself ?
I'm on ubuntu 22
