GitBook seems to have an option for dark mode: https://docs.gitbook.com/tour/customization/space-customization#theme-mode

Since the editor and the website are in dark mode by default, too, I think I'd make sense for the docs as well.

While this is a bit out of date, I think this likely would happen the next time we update the site and likely bring the docs back into the site. I didn't end up being a huge fan of gitbook.

Curious question, could mdbook be a possible alternative instead? Or are there other reasons (documentation being in sync with new feature PRs would be one reason I could think of) you want to move back?

PRs being in sync is a big one, stylistic consistency is one. I'd love to be able to reference data from zed/zed.dev in the docs directly as well.

I think if we used something else I'd just move the docs to github itself otherwise. Simplest option. No plans right now though.
