Since we likely won't add new themes until user themes land, I'd like to close out all the theme issues.

I'll start compiling a list of requested themes here so people may opt into creating the themes people want.

Have EF-themes been ported yet? While Modus themes are really nice. I find modus light to be too bright. Ef-Themes have some variants that are less bright and very nice to work with.

I just wanted to mention that we have been working on a VS Code theme importer and that at some point, it will be public, so others can simply import whatever VS Code themes into Zed!

the properties needing removal. With that done, the conversion went smoothly.

I suggest, to manage all this themes, I propose next actions:

1. create a plugins manager UI with section themes as VSCode Extensions UI.
   List of extensions in new repo zed/plugins with folder themes/ and theme-name.json with: name, description, repository, author, version.
   The Plugins Manager in Zed Read repository zed/plugins in themes/ folder and list all with information of theme-name.json defined before.

In themes only I suggest this workflow to publish theme "plugin" with cost "0" to staff:

1. Developer PR zed/plugins with new file [theme-name].json with structure defined before.
2. CI checks author sign eula(same current PRs)
3. CI check json theme from repository of author are valid and format correct.
4. Auto Approve theme (or manual approve if you prefer).

With this we have:

• Repository with registry of themes of community (or incluse zed themes).
• Plugins Manager with list of all themes from repository in real-time.
• Plugins manager feature to install theme: copy into ~/.config/zed/themes directly and select theme.

With this starts base of Plugins Manager UI.

I have more ideas about rating, filtering, previews, etc

I wonder if creating a new Enhancement Request for there to exist functionality within Zed that will automatically import a VSCode theme and convert it (all done within Zed automatically, as opposed to needing to build Zed from scratch, install Xcode, etc) would make more sense before closing this ticket.

That VSCode extension is a bit scary.

It attempts to launch in the background a Home Brew package to silently install onto your machine some type of executable, without you knowing.

It's not clear to me what the executable is doing that is being silently installed, and I'm only aware of this because the extension error out - due to me not having Home Brew installed (and the extension could use the 'brew' command)

You want to search for zed: extensions in the command palette to find the extension through the Extensions UI.

@fuzenco @Moshyfawn The @zed-industries team needs to include this and other projects of mine in their extensions platform. There is a lot more theme being built for you, with a lot of love, and language such as support for COBOL and Hexadecimal colored, but Zed needs to include these projects that I develop and collaborate, without this, unfortunately you will have to use these resources doing manual installation and possibly you will miss new updates.
