🚀 Some suggestions #151

This could be a non-starter, but is it a good idea to have U.S.-based hosting providers such as the famed Choopa LLC (Japan, Singapore server), and the controversial Green Floid LLC (Switzerland server) serving BlahDNS users' DNS queries? |
How about switch following Cloud provider:
|
Thanks for the consideration. Linode is U.S.-based, and Swiss-VPS Pty Ltd looks like all bark no bite. So, I'm looking at others. I'm actually curious, why would you put a server in Switzerland if you already have one in the neighbour Germany? I'd assume one would place them geographically spread out. So ideally in somewhere in Portugal/Spain or even Iceland would be better, consistent with your location plan. |
The main consideration is I want to use Switzerland as a hub, part of my self-hosted VPN. Somehow I agreed with your point of view that ideally get a server in Portugal (Italy), India, and Iceland (Norway) will be a good choice. Somehow I would like to give a user choice to choose something like low latency or region based (privacy-friendly region). |
Now I understand. If I may, why did you choose Switzerland as the hub place? So, now that its obvious a server is going to be permanent in Switzerland, I would like to suggest eqipe for Switzerland, and Bahnhof (this is the ultimate privacy hosting provider), Greenhost, Njalla, 1984 for other regions. OpenBSD Amsterdam might be useful to you. If any pricing issue or any feature missing from the above ones, I can search for more hosting providers. |
@obeho Any alternative to Vultr or Linode for Asia server? I will move Switzerland server to Swiss-VPS Pty Ltd around March or April. Because I need to calc how much budget that I can spend on public instance. Also, donation isn't enough to cover most of the cost, but I do enjoy the entire journey and huge thanks for supporters. For Netherland server: www.leaseweb.com | openbsd.amsterdam | greenhost.net |
Asia is very tricky :) Its gonna be real difficult to find a privacy-focused service. Imma jump right into it. But I think you can put down around 20$ (which is pretty much the standard) +/- 10$ (for padding). By the way, Seoul is an interesting place to host a server (offered by Vultr).
Are you considering these?
I'm sure users are grateful for the service they are getting and the efforts you put in. |
While I've been searching for hosting providers I came across Netcup, which will be suitable for BlahDNS Germany I hope. Have a look at it. |
@ookangzheng Please have a look at NiceVPS for Switzerland instead of Swiss-VPS Pty Ltd and comment 👍 or 👎 |
@ookangzheng Another suggestion for Switzerland is Data Center Light and Exoscale. I really don't want to see BlahDNS hosted on Swiss-VPS Pty Ltd. |
Finally a viable candidate for Asia, CloudSigma |
BlahDNS hosted on Data center light before, but their control panel functionality too simple for me, some feature is missing, such as Snapshot, VNC. |
Looks like their data center located in England. |
In this page it showed locations as Switzerland. They even have this in their News section. |
Final thought will be Japan + Singapore --> I'd not consider leaseweb.com, because they only support business use and I have to do KYC |
Germany, Finland, and Netherlands? Europe is getting too much attention 😁.
Does this mean the above suggestions are not suitable? Should I search for more alternatives? |
I want to give BSD a try. |
This VPS hosting service with its servers in Romania, accepts BTC,Lightning Network, XMR, LTC, DASH, ETH, USDT as payment. |
