There are some things that would make the 'out of the box' experience better for people new to vim.
One idea would be to provide a 'getting started' config people could install if they are new to vim, or new to vim on z/OS

For example:

  • ensure tabs are NEVER generated in languages that don't support tabs (e.g. JCL, COBOL, Assembler)

This could be either in an 'add on package' or perhaps something that gets installed by default?
