hmm, on the answer arcs for the character page (I'm currently on episode 5) the selection seems to be bugged
I can't click on the characters properly so it's stuck on this specific character. Any fixes for this?
I'm running voices only but with the experimental engine selected.
Other buttons and options seem to work but don't highlight properly. I wonder if that's worth mentioning
The only characters I can select is Beatrice and downwards. Everyone to the right don't highlight and I end up on Cornellia's page.
I don't think it's anything major but I might as well point it out.

The user had the same issue on ep6, further more accessing the right click menu sometimes caused the game to crash.

I tested ep6 myself on my Windows machine with the experimental exe (EDIT: I accidentally tested the NVL mode full patch, not voice-only, but later testing a psuedo voice-only mod didn't cause the crash. Perhaps further testing is required), and couldn't reproduce the same crashes (I think the game did crash while skipping once, though). So I suspect it's only experimental exe + Linux which has this issue.

The user did some testing, and found only the experimental exe had the problem:

vanilla: fine
no experimental: fine
its only experimental I have issues with
I think I'll just continue the game with no experimental and see how that works out

We had another report of the same issue:

The problem: when i go to the menu to save it crashes, also the menu to check character bios is stuck on one character on a specific page the others work fine it also chrashes on that page sometimes, the 5th chapter did it occasionally but it got alot worse on the 6th
Reproduction Instructions: Launch the game, play for a bit, go to the save menu then it usually chrashes, or launch game and open the menu to see character list
Mod/Game history: i installed the game and mod a month ago for the first time
Save information: had the mod installed before i started playing
Does the unmodded game have the same problem?: no
The game: Umineko answer arcs
The mod variant: Voice Only
I bought the game at: Steam
My operating system is: Windows
I installed the base game: a month ago
I installed the mod: Using the Installer
Mod Download and Install Date: a month ago
Mod Options: japanese voices, english text,OG sprites
State anything "special" about your computer's setup: gaming laptop
State if you've changed anything to try and fix the problem: I deleted everything and redownloaded and it still has the issue
State if anything has changed recently on your PC: nothing
Antivirus Software: Windows Defender

Later they reported that re-installing fixed the issue

I think it maybe could've been the experimental Windows thing that says it fixes some bugs but can cause others, because I didn't include it with the most recent install but I think I had it on the others

It may be possible that this issue only happens with voice-only + experimental exe. Since the experimental exe doesn't provide much benefit for voice-only users, just disabling users from using the experimental exe with voice-only may be a solution for now.

I also noticed that someone reported this issue on the unmodded vanilla game. This is a little confusing, considering that changing back to the vanilla exe seems to fix the issue. See https://steamcommunity.com/app/639490/discussions/0/5946474365644826438/

For now I'm going to remove the experimental exe option for our voice-only mod, as it doesn't provide much benefit for voice-only users. I'll remove it for both Q and A, even though this issue seems to only affect the question arcs.
