games skin update
Retroarch is now available on Steam!
It is still early days for Retroarch's integration in steam (regarding playlists and other assets like thumbnails).
bug fixes
- Steam has changed the structure of their internal library.vdf file. This resulted in duplicate game/app entries because I previously had to manually add the path to the installed steam executable as a library.
- I had to compensate for spaces in the path to Retroarch's steam install.
other
converted tabs to spaces (mostly in Lua scripts only)
Full Changelog: 0.8.0...0.8.1
A Work In Progress that is mostly stable
Known Problems:
- The Circle Clock & the Flip Clock require you to change the size of the clock (any size except 153 will work fine) at least once after the first install.
- loading the volume knob skin will adjust the volume to the last level set using the skin.
- Origin service for the games launcher may be buggy depending on what games are installed using EA's Origin app (Installer logs seem to vary radically between games - it's an Origin problem that needs testing to identify & compensate for differences).
- Retroarch service for the Games launcher has two right click options that both (should) open the folder of the rom file/game that was right-clicked on. The right-click menu is just a place-holder for now until future development
To use custom made/downloaded box art for Origin games:
- Right click the game & select the "Search for Image" option. This will do 2 things:
- open up a Google Image search with the name of the game + the keyword "boxart"
- copies the name of the game to your Windows clipboard
- Select an image to use and save it to a folder named "Goo-e\Games\List\User Obtained Boxart". Use the game name that's stored in the Windows clipboard to rename the picture appropriately.
- Reload the Games List Skin while Origin (or the Pirate Icon) is the main Icon in the Games Launcher.
To use the Games Launcher's Retroarch service, you must do the folllowing in Retroarch:
- Run Retroarch and import content based on the installed libretro cores (emulators)
- Go to Settings->Playlists->Manage Playlists & set the Default libretro core to use for each playlist.
- Go to Main Menu->Onine Updater->Update Assets. This provides the pictures used in the Gamse Launcher skin.
- Go to Main Menu->Onine Updater->Download Thumbnails to download the box art/screen shots/title screens for the games in each playlist. This is optional, but highly recommended.
Tip
For finer control of the Retroarch playlists, try using the "Desktop Menu" option offered in the main menu (unless the menu option is disabled) in Retroarch
