We use Google Filestore storage for home directories on GCP. It offers a backup management, but to automate scheduling of backups it seems that they have no managed solution besides allowing the use of a REST API to start backups. This is then in turn something that can be scheduled for example using their Cloud functions service and a Python script + GCP service account etc.
This issue is created for parity with the cloud equivalent AWS's EFS service and Azure's Files services.
