Reporting: Improve the way dates are displayed in the Date Picker in the Payment activity widget #9225

Describe the bug

At the moment the dates are displayed as e.g. 5 – June 11, 2024 which is a bit unusual.

Expected behavior

It would be great if the dates could be displayed in the following format, in the abbreviated form, but in both parts – e.g. Mar 1 – Mar 12 2024 or Jan 3 – Jan 12 2024 as per design and this discussion.

5 – June 11, 2024 which is a bit unusual.

Side note – how did we make the decision to display dates this way? Strange that we implemented something custom, and different to the design.
