This repository contains various Python scripts for producing graphics of Rapid Refresh Forecast System (RRFS) grib2 output at NOAA's Environmental Modeling Center (EMC). Various descriptions of each plotting script are included below.
plot_allvars_firewx.py: Generates 3-panel plots comparing output from the NAM fire weather nest to the RRFS fire weather nest for ~35 unique fields.
plot_allvars_hrrr.py: Generates 3-panel plots comparing output from the HRRR to the RRFS for ~75 unique fields over 18 domains (CONUS, sub-CONUS, Alaska).
plot_allvars_namerica.py: Generates single-panel plots of RRFS output over North America and the Caribbean for ~40 unique fields.
plot_allvars_nam.py: Generates 3-panel plots comparing output from the NAM nest to the RRFS for ~55 unique fields over 20 domains (CONUS, sub-CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico).
plot_qpfsnowfall_nam.py: Generates 3-panel plots comparing output from the NAM nest to the RRFS for accumulated precipitation and snowfall over 20 domains (CONUS, sub-CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico).
plot_uhtracks_hrrr.py: Generates 3-panel plots comparing output from the HRRR to the RRFS for run-total max hourly 2-5 km updraft helicity tracks over 17 domains (CONUS, sub-CONUS).
plot_uhtracks_nam.py: Generates 3-panel plots comparing output from the NAM nest to the RRFS for run-total max hourly 2-5 km updraft helicity tracks over 17 domains (CONUS, sub-CONUS).
