+## This repository has been archived and is no longer maintained.

+As of 2024, this script is no longer in use by the internal projects that were originally
+using it. Dryad has moved on to using the DataCite web tracker for the statistics they are
+tracking.
+
+The DataCite web tracker has the advantage of being able to log statistics directly to
+a web endpoint and statistics are automatically calculated by DataCite rather than needing
+to manage logs, calculate stats manually (and slowly for large amounts of traffic)
+and upload reports separately to the DataCite hub on a schedule.

+As of March 2024, I've done some final cleanup of Python library versions to update
+dependencies to address security vulnerabilities and to make the script run with Python
+3.10.

+work well for the later states of some software that used it. Resources and prioritization meant
