This is the pull request for merging 4.0 branch into master.

It's my bad that I forgot to directly merge master into 4.0 branch. Instead, I branch master to this ResolveConflict and merge 4.0 into this branch.

I have tried my best to resolve all conflicts and inconsistent code, but the code that does not trigger a conflict still has errors.

The plan is to review this carefully and get it merged before iOS 14 rolls out.

@jjatie @danielgindi if you have some time now, please help review it and maybe fix some compile errors. I'll keep fixing the compile errors until it could build and run. but meantime please help review as well. I will graducally add comment for things needed disccusion.

* Codestyle fixes

* Finished cleanup

* Pulled master
* Added Collection conformances

MutableCollection
RandomAccessCollection
RangeReplaceableCollection

Also added remove subrange.

* PR review fixes

* Removed unnecessary `get` from subscripts.

* Disabled `remove(at:)` for CombinedChartView

* Relocated `appendEntry(_:todataSet:)`

* Removed methods from CombinedChartData
* weak -> unowned

`ViewPortJob`s are owned by the Charts that make them. They are guaranteed to only exist while the chart exists. The `Transformer` and `ViewPortHandler` are supplied by the chart, so they will also only exist while the chart exists. Therefor none of them need to be `weak`, but can be `unowned` instead. It's a minor change in the code base (removing some guard statements), but it makes it much easier to discern how the framework is architected.

* pulled latest master
* Removed optionality from valueFormatter where appropriate

In ChartBaseDataSet, `valueFormatter` never returned nil, and escaped early if trying to set it to nil. It appears this was made optional solely to provide lazy initialization. We now use a lazy var instead.

In AxisBase, the backing var `_axisValueFormatter` would never be treated as nil, and appears to be made optional solely to provide lazy initialization. We now use a lazy var instead. In `valueFormatter` we can remove the `nil` check, but leave it optional to keep the same functionality.

* Pulled 4.0.0

* Pulled latest 4.0.0

* Fixed pro file
* Added Collection conformances

MutableCollection
RandomAccessCollection
RangeReplaceableCollection

* [#3018] Refactored use of `ChartData` to use new `Collection` conformances

* Fixed required initializers

* ChartData adopts ExressibleByArrayLiteral

* Modified demos to take advantage of collection conformance.

* Removed unnecessary `get` from subscripts.

* Removed redundant methods

* Relocated `appendEntry(_:todataSet:)`

* Removed methods from CombinedChartData
* Moved the default value formatter

It is now simply `DefaultValueFomatter()`
Removed unnecessary backing ivars in `DefaultValuetFormatter` in favour of property observers
Deprecated static func constructor in favour of initializer
added a workspace to include all demos with the project to make it easier to test changes

This always returns true and is deprecated. Should be replace by self[dataSetIndex].append(e)

I just checked and this is the only use of addEntry remaining in the project

Since large changes are being made for 4.0.0, I think we should reconsider some of these, potentially complex, side effects. We should leave them there in the deprecated old API, but I think we should recommend that they call it themselves with the new Collection API. I've found in my own experience, when working with live data, most data is around the same value and I had to remove the various calc methods that fire when modifying a dataSet to get the desired performance

We should probably deprecate these removeEntry methods to encourage standard Swift Collection API. i.e.

if let index = chartData[dataSetIndex].index(of: entry) {
    chartData[dataSetIndex].remove(at: index)
}

how about mark some 2.0/3.0 APIs to deprecate, and remove in 4.1? or remove it now?

@danielgindi idea?

Then this one could be index(ofXValue:) (on ChartDataSet)

for simple improvements, please pull this branch and just update the code, usually I should be ok with it. I will check what you updated

I suppose this and the above comment were for @danielgindi . There have been disagreements in the past around API changes related to this. We didn't have the Collection API then though.

@jjatie @danielgindi could any of you can take a look at why Bar Chart all failed? I see a shift on y axis, but couldn't remember what's causing the shift:
image
you can see the bar chart in whole on left side is a bit lower on y-axis direction than the right one.

It seems it's because func calculateLegendOffsets

There was a fix a while back to the legend offsets. It shifted all tests too... I'm not sure how the merge did not catch this as there are snapshots involved.

I think that if this branch is tested and works fine, and the whole point about it is a bigger shift towards Swift, away from ObjC compatibility - then just go ahead, merge it.
Let people test it as a beta or an rc for a few days.

I don't see anything that breaks compatibility with the Java counterpart also. The naming is converted to swift-like namings, but the workings stays the same.

I see breaking changes, not deprecations, maybe I missed something. Anyway - that's what major versions are for right? :-)

we have 7 APIs marked as @available(*, deprecated") in master like above. So it looks like we can remove them now. @jjatie are there any other APIs we should pay attention? like APIs should mark as deprecated or to be removed?

@liuxuan30 They have been marked deprecated, but those warnings have never been released. We should keep them for now, and remove in a subsequent release.

* weak -> unowned (ChartsOrg#3039)

* weak -> unowned

* pulled latest master

* Removed optionality from valueFormatter where appropriate (ChartsOrg#3106)

* Removed optionality from valueFormatter where appropriate

In ChartBaseDataSet, `valueFormatter` never returned nil, and escaped early if trying to set it to nil. It appears this was made optional solely to provide lazy initialization. We now use a lazy var instead.

In AxisBase, the backing var `_axisValueFormatter` would never be treated as nil, and appears to be made optional solely to provide lazy initialization. We now use a lazy var instead. In `valueFormatter` we can remove the `nil` check, but leave it optional to keep the same functionality.

* Fill rewrite (ChartsOrg#3084)

close ChartsOrg#3140
* Fill is now a protocol

Different fill logic is broken up into separate classes. This has a few benefits:
1. It makes the `Fill` types more readable (logic is grouped together)
2. No optionals
3. Most importantly it allows consumers to create new Fill types without looking into the framework.

* Added super.init() for objc

* Updated Fill access

No need to subclass existing fills now that the system is more flexible. If functionality is needed from another fill, user can call it within their own `fillPath(context: CGContext, rect: CGRect)` implementation.

* Updated Fill Names

* Update Fill.swift

update code style

* update to Swift 5, Xcode 13.5.1, and fix warnings

* fix all compile errors and wrong symbols either by git or me.

* revert back to convenience init for BarChartDataSet
fix ChartDataTests compile errors: use new API dataSet(forLabel:, ignorecase: )

* actually, I compared the old master and find this is a mistake while merging to make init(label:) in BarChartDataSet. It should be in ChartDataSet.

* fix -0.0 issue in 4.0 merge. fix func calculateLegendOffsets in BarLineChartViewBase due to mistaking added back offsetBottom += xAxis.labelRotatedHeight. see ChartsOrg#4277 for details
now bar & horizontal bar chart tests should pass.

* fix pie chart UT failures. didSet will no be called in init(), so we call it manually
also fix set.valueFormatter in data setter

* fix line chart UT failures

* Remove `isIndirectValuesCall`

* Bump Travis to Xcode 12

* Remove misuse of `count` (ChartsOrg#4461)

* Remove misuse of `count`

* Fix protocol method name

* Update ChartColorTemplates.swift
