Some ideas -

  • Goal of imaging - generate an image with sufficient contrast + resolution to identify structures of interest
  • Basics - B0 and H+ precession
  • Generating measurable signal - B1, RF pulse
  • Image contrast - T1 recovery, T2 (*) decay, TR/TE
  • Spatial localization - gradients, FoV (Fourier transforms? k-space? frequency/phase encoding?)

Last point is tricky as far as how much detail to go into. Probably more signal processing than needed for this.

I think it's worth putting some thought to the order of presentation, for all of this and also across chapters in general.

E.g. do we go in standard order: MRI goals, MR basics, signals acquired, and processed image? Or present concepts in the reverse order, starting from the final output (which worked quite well in the Mouse Imaging Summer School, and is also done in the MRI from Picture to Proton book)

This is why there's no chapter numbers anywhere, just topic ideas right now
