Electronic components (links to AliExpress)

Before ordering with AliExpress, please inform yourself of how customs are handled in your country. Or even better to consult with someone who regularly buys electronics from overseas, specifically China. And lastly you could revert to local electronics distributors.

• NodeMCU (ESP8266, CPU/WLAN) US $2.50 (June 2018)

• SDS011 (particulate matter sensor) US $17.00 (June 2018)

• DHT22/AM2302 (temparature and humidity, optional) US $2.60 (June 2018)

• Dupont cable (female-female, approx. 20cm) US $0.90 (June 2018)

• USB Cable (flat, 2m, Micro-USB)

• USB Power Supply (5V, 1A minimum). Please don't go for the cheapest, because inferior electrical components could cause interferences on your circuit. Sometime products on AliExpress don't have CE certification and it's better to source one locally.

Weather protection

• Bends: It might be difficult to find the Marley Silent HT Rohr-Bogen (DN 75 87°) in your country. Try to find two affordable bends with similar specs. With the SDS011 being the widest component to be fitted, it might be useful to visit your hardware store with the assembled parts, because the diameters often do not take the narrow (inside) end into account.
• PVC tubing: 6mm tubing should be found easily in your hardware store. Often in pump supplies. It is not recommended to use clear tubing because its transparency will accelerate the build-up of a bio-film over time. But clear tubing is often the only colour available, which is why it is included in many builds.
• Cable ties: Small, thin cable ties should do. Make sure to supply yourself with ties that fit into the holes of SDS011 and ESP8266. If you going out to buy some, take the sensor with you.
• Duct tape: Duct or gaffer tape.
• Insect protection: To avoid any insects or animals building nests or damaging the sensor, net or mesh material that allows good air flow might help.
