Older (Vala < 0.44) builds were failing on OBS because of "invalid right operand" (`Rest.Proxy.Error.SSL`) https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/vala/issues/732 suggests that we need to access the codes indirectly (at least for older versions)
