If a statement includes [text in brackets] as the first text in a category, kableExtra will add \hspace*{0in}. However, because [text in brackets] is a parameter in latex it causes an error when compiling to PDF.
In some cases there exist codes that have absolutely no responses. This was causing nchar(x), where x is all NA, to return an Inf value.
