[Feature Request] Caching ability

It seems the server tries to download the image each time, which makes the page load slower. Would it perhaps be possible to keep the current image in a cache and only refresh once per day?

No, it's not the job of this library.... use savePNG or saveJPG method to save the map.

I totally understand. Could you perhaps add an example that shows the cleanest way to do this, because I would probably do it in a very hacky way?

Something like this will works.
You can add a CRON task too clear map directory each day at 01:00 am. If you daily refresh all maps. Maybe is better to do a monthly clear.
