Explanation
A regression test is an A/B test of target performance in a repeatable rig, where "performance" is measured as "comparison variant minus baseline variant" for an optimization goal (e.g., ingress throughput). Due to intrinsic variability in measuring that goal, we can only estimate its mean value for each experiment; we report uncertainty in that value as a 90.00% confidence interval denoted "Δ mean % CI".
For each experiment, we decide whether a change in performance is a "regression" -- a change worth investigating further -- if all of the following criteria are true:
-
Its estimated |Δ mean %| ≥ 5.00%, indicating the change is big enough to merit a closer look.
-
Its 90.00% confidence interval "Δ mean % CI" does not contain zero, indicating that if our statistical model is accurate, there is at least a 90.00% chance there is a difference in performance between baseline and comparison variants.
-
Its configuration does not mark it "erratic".

Does this still warrant QA instructions for a manual local test, or are we deferring to the E2E tests for QA ?
I completed a manual local test, and will also add an explicit E2E test in #29091 |

…ne (#35058) **Description:** <Describe what has changed.> <!--Ex. Fixing a bug - Describe the bug and how this fixes the issue. Ex. Adding a feature - Explain what this achieves.--> Includes bug fix from DataDog/datadog-agent#28870. In gateway deployments using the logs agent feature gate, some logs may be associated with the hostname of the gateway collector instead of the host sending the logs. This fixes this issue by explicitly assigning the mapped log hostname. **Link to tracking Issue:** <Issue number if applicable> **Testing:** <Describe what testing was performed and which tests were added.> Performed manual tests and added unit test. **Documentation:** <Describe the documentation added.>

What does this PR do?
This PR explicitly assigns the mapped hostname from our OTLP logs mapping to the logs agent
Message
object. This way, the logs agent pipeline will recognize the correct hostname for logs instead of using the Agent hostname:datadog-agent/pkg/logs/processor/processor.go
Lines 291 to 311 in 5d954e9
Motivation
Additional Notes
This doesn't change anything for Agent OTLP ingest or the Converged Agent because when the Agent is deployed as a Daemonset, the agent hostname is the same as the hostname obtained from the mapping. This will change how log hostnames are set with the OTel Collector when deployed in a Gateway model, so we'll add a release note in the upstream PR.
Possible Drawbacks / Trade-offs
Describe how to test/QA your changes
Tested locally and in e2e test suite. Will add an e2e test for this change in this PR #28866.
