Welcome to the vfsa wiki!

This program is available in Madagascar package! Version 3.0

schematic representation of a Zero offset CRS surface

The image above is a schematic representation of a zero offset CRS reflection traveltime surface (in green). This CRS surface is determined by 3 parameters (RN, RNIP and BETA) associated with a normal ray (in red) and with a CMP in the aquisition surface (P0 point, in red also).

The Very Fast Simulated Aneeling (VFSA) algorithm optimizes the search of these CRS parameters using the semblance between a CRS approximation surface and the reflection surface in the data (in blue) as a convergence criteria. The main assumption is the CRS parameters that produce the best fit between these surfaces will be the optimized ones.

Dependencies

  • The vfsa programs are designed for the Madagascar seismic processing package. In order to use them, you should install the actual Madagascar stable version.

Installation

  • Follow the steps in the Installation section of our README to add the programs in the current version of your Madagascar package.
