Hi Cheryl,

This change is part of a larger set of changes that I have been testing on gust and casper. I'll need to bring all of the changes in together and they aren't ready quite yet. Hopefully in the next week or so.

Thanks @jedwards4b and @cacraigucar . Since Derecho is online and we already have the GPU tests there, I think it is safe to close this PR now. If anyone wants to regularly run a GPU test on Casper, I can help set it up in the future.
