Weather Data

We use a range of weather data:

• historical temperature observations
• temperature forecast
• solar irradiance

In future we may also use wind speed/direction or other weather information.

We use interpolated weather data, rather than site-specific observations. The interpolated data should give us better idea of the actual conditions in the area of the schools.

We need historical data to do weather normalisation of energy readings. Your expected energy usage data will vary if its a hot or a cold day.

Current

Data currently comes via [DarkSky|Dark-Sky-Areas]. But that's being switched off, so we need to find another source

Previously we'd used Weather Underground, but this became unavailable.

Future

In future we are looking to switch to the Meteostat API.
