Also, given that the project is kind of dormant, how well does it work with Idea 2017.1?

Irina, All code is sent to our sever over TLS.

The entire code base? I don't think my client would approve. Any way we can host our own server? Also, does the plugin work reliably with IDEA Ultimate 2017.1?
