Since certain distros don't even distribute bash by default, this would make the kernel a little easier to build for some people (like me, who use mostly Void and sometimes Alpine when I'm feeling sad with outrageous mandatory dependencies Void packages have sometimes). It would also lead to minor performance benefits while building since, you know, dash is much faster than bash. I could also use statically-compiled execline, es or even Lua if somebody feels like trying more exotic options for even faster script execution.
Keep using bash like we're "normal" Linux users, go with /bin/sh for portability, or weird out with static execline, es or Lua for maximum peformance?
Use bash, succumb to GNU world domination

Use /bin/sh, just works even though it's ugly sometimes
