XNet is a mod similar to AE2, i.e. it's used for automatically extracting and inputting items, fluids and energy into machines. The Controller block, which displays everything it's connected to, doesn't properly display GTCE tile entities. Since it can properly display most other mods' tile entities, I'm guessing the issue is on GTCE's side.

you're guessing wrong. If it can't call proper method for rendering blocks in-world, it's not GTCE problem. Neither it is GTCE problem if it can't get proper name from tile entity or itemblock.
