How does HeliBoard learn? Is the personal dictionary the result of the "learned data"? #880
-
Hey and thank you for the great keyboard! I am coming from swiftkey and I am trying to understand the way HeliBoard works and especially how it improves by learning? So what I see is that I have two options I have activated:
Under "text correction" you can also check your personal directory. So what I am wondering about is: And what is the personal directory about and when is a word being added to this directory while using HeliBoard? I am sorry for my n00b-questions, but maybe someone could help me a little bit to understand O:-) |

The personal dictionary is (by default) the Android system dictionary where you can add your own words (by language).
A word is added if the related setting enabled, and the typed word is not in other dictionaries (except history), and the typed word is in history (meaning you previously typed it without deleting it immediately). |

A custom dictionary like this is a great benefit. I've written a lot about the dictionaries and building a DIY custom dictionary here to improve typing. |

Correct
It depends. Words from personal dictionary are suggested more frequently by default, but they do not have any previous-word context. But most learned suggestions are likely to come from history.
