Confirmed that switching FlatLaf back to .27 in JFormDesigner the issue is not there. So the bug is somewhere between .27 and .33.... |

So Charly, heres the NPE:
I know in FEB you did a pretty significant refactor of UIDefaults. Check out this diff from Feb 16 - I dont know how the UIDefaults loading works entirely Im just looking at this now. But if its a simple replacement of a UIDefault for MenuBar.backgroundPainter, Im sure you could knock it out faster than me. Also looking at the AquaL&F code and the refactor that was done there may be other defaults that are missing as well for MenuBar |

Yes, the NPE is a consequence of reducing UI defaults by switching from AquaLaf as base to BasicLaf. But it seems that the problem is in JFormDesigner itself. The NPE is within |

Just FYI its not intermittent in my workspace if FlatLaf is set as the L&F it happens on startup of JFormDesigner and does not go away with any amount of window clicking or changing windows. |

It turned out that FlatLaf forces the use of The NPE also ocures if using a The fix is in master branch |

Sorry for joining in on that issue almost one year later. A user of one of my applications had this same problem with FlatLaf 0.35 on Java 13. Has there been a regression? I have already built a program version using FlatLaf 1.1 and passed it to the user to give it a try. Unfortunately, it did not solve the issue. |

I just found that the error message is slightly different: Line 8 in the stack trace points to the JLayeredPane instead of com.jformdesigner.hU. |
