This is somewhat of a duplication of the donation page, but the idea is that if someone looks for "is jabref free for commercial use?" then they get the answer "yes, but we suggest you pay a bit since you generate profit from the usage".

I noticed, in the meantime, that, on the page https://github.com/JabRef/jabref/wiki/Donations, the link to the imprint
(https://www.jabref.org/impressum.html) leads to a 404 error.

And, on https://www.jabref.org/, there is no link to the Legal Notices and the Privacy Policy.

We should discuss this more in deep. Keep in mind that we are non profit organization.

We want to be clear that JabRef is completely free to use for all commercial purposes, regardless of whether or not a user chooses to donate. We believe that open-source software should be accessible to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. Our goal is to provide high-quality, open-source software that can be used by anyone, anywhere in the world.

We also want to emphasize that any donations we receive will be used to support the ongoing development and maintenance of our software. This includes things like server costs, bug fixes, and new feature development. We believe that by supporting our project financially, users can help to ensure that our software remains high-quality and up-to-date.

We probably should adapt this part here. All donations are used to support the association purposes according to german law. This includes development of the software, maintenance cost, as well as supporting teaching of software engineering.

Remember the saying: For free you have received, for free you shall give. :-)

Do you think it would suffice to refer here to the donation page (where all the glory details should be). The idea of this sentence here was to give the person reading it an incentive and "feel good" moment to donate - but of course the sentence should be factual correct ;-).

Would you mind expanding why you see this as a problem? Call for money (in what ever form) is pretty common for non-profit, or not? We would of course only use the money to support the development of JabRef, and not to pay our CEO millions ;-)

Thanks! I was planing to setup a new donations page in the near future that should address this as well (JabRef/JabRefOnline#1464 and JabRef/JabRefOnline#2010).
