fvr

fvr (pronounced as 'fever') is an implementation of the ls command-line application.

fvr aims to be as fast and efficient as possible while still being "reasonably customizable" on a best-effort basis. It does not make any attempt to replicate the command-line interface of ls.

Currently, fvr is only intended for usage on Unix-based systems. All code is currently developed and tested on Ubuntu-24.04, though this may change in the future.

Installation

fvr can be installed through one of the following methods.

Download the latest release

fvr's latest releases will be available through this repository's 'releases' section. These pre-compiled binaries will (for now) only be available for Unix-based systems.

Install through Cargo

You can install fvr directly through Cargo, the package manager for The Rust Programming Language. This will download, compile, and then install fvr directly from this repository.

cargo install --git https://github.com/Jaxydog/fvr.git --locked

Install manually

You may alternatively download fvr's source code directly, compile, and install it yourself.

git clone https://github.com/Jaxydog/fvr.git
cd ./fvr
cargo build --release
cp ./target/release/fvr <destination>

Usage

fvr currently contains two sub-commands; list and tree.

list prints the contents of any specified directories. tree prints the contents of any specified directories recursively as a tree.
