- Nothing in Josiah theory is guaranteed to stay the same. Josiah theory has no strict rules, only guidelines.
- Josiah theory sometimes breaks steno order but tries to do in a consistent and predictable manner
- Josiah theory does not shy away from large keypresses per stroke and whenever convenient, it switches between orthographic and/or phonetic representations. It does not use any mnemonics (cough, cough ROPE theory)
- avoid
-S
pluralising at all costs (-TS
is the only exception)
- Josiah theory has a few unique ideas that are (probably) not in other theories
- Do it in this order (order is somewhat experimental):
- Asterisk for capitalisation, e.g.
SKWROB
→job
SKWRO*B
→Job
- Asterisk for contraction, e.g.
URT
→you are the
*URT
→you're the
- Asterisk second stroke to differentiate between compound word, e.g.
SPAEUS/SHEUP
→space ship
SPAEUS/SH*EUP
→spaceship
) - preschwa starter order: a, e, i, o, u, e.g.
^TKEUGS
→addition
,^TK*EUGS
→edition
) - Asterisk longest option (syllables), e.g.
KWAOEUT
→quite
KWAO*EUT
→quiet
- Asterisk longest option (characters), e.g.
TKPHAET
→mediate
,TKPHA*ET
→meditate
- Asterisk change order
^
→a
, e.g.^TKO
→ado
,^TKO*
→do a
- Asterisk less literal option, e.g.
STKAOUS
→seduce
STKAO*US
→disuse
- Alphabetical order approach, e.g.
PARPT
→participaNt
PA*RPT
→participaTe
- Asterisk by usage frequency is highly
unrecommended
because it requires more unnecessary memorisation in my opinion (plover and magnum do this). Probably fine to asterisk conflicting words that are really, really rare though.
- Lapwing uses
#
and that's probably a good alternative

- Magnum is not free, but I managed to learn some of its ideas from Stan (stanographer).
- Magnum was created by the fastest stenographer in the world, Mark Kislingbury.
- Magnum has awesome briefs that (mostly) don't conflict with plover, Lapwing etc. so Josiah theory adapts a lot of its ideas.
