Why are tests encrypted?

I'm using the Kotlin Koans course from IntelliJ IDEA, via the JetBrains Academy Plugin. Why are the tests encrypted in task-info.yaml? I can understand why the answer would be encrypted, but why shouldn't a student be able to look at the tests? For one thing, you can't use the debugger if the tests are deleted after every run.
