Feature proposal:

Support the multi-target exporter pattern so that the targets can be defined (or discovered) in the Prometheus config instead of target.ini.

till added a commit that referenced this issue May 5, 2023
Allows probing of arbitrary targets using /prober?target=example.org.

Returns the usual metrics. Still requires an empty target.ini.
