ovs-rstp is an implementation of the Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (RSTP) on Open vSwitch. RSTP is defined in IEEE 802.1D-2004 as a set of state machines that interoperate using shared variables.

ovs-rstp is now included in Open vSwitch. New developments are performed on this fork.

We describe here two sets of functional tests performed on ovs-rstp: the first is carried out by interconnecting several instances of ovs-rstp on a Mininet simulator, the second being an interoperability test with commercial switches. Such tests have been carried out on ovs-rstp release rstp-test-20140221.
