What changed?

Closes #2642 Move to MIT licence

This PR will likely take a while, but I'd love 75% of the people who have contributed to this project to give a 👍 to move to the MIT licensing.

Status: 81 / 102 - 79,4%

If you are happy with this PR, please leave a comment to this effect:

I hereby release all of my contributions to this project under the terms of the MIT license.

Why?

Personally? I don't care. Is it this? Maybe if you want to change the MahApps code in one of your projects, then your project must also be Ms-PL? But Ms-PL should be compatible to MIT.

@punker76 punker76 added this to the 1.3.0 milestone Sep 13, 2016

you must publish your code also under Ms-PL

ChooseALicense does a pretty good job at explaining it: http://choosealicense.com/licenses/ms-pl/

I believe you may be right though. Don't quote me on it.

What if we'll change the license of the original code?

I am not a lawyer, but I think Ms-PL is the kind of viral license that forces the whole project to be licensed under it, but I not sure though, these licensing details always get me confused lol.

IANAL as well, but Ms-PL is not a copy-left license. It is very permissive and I'm not sure the interpretation of 'must release your code under Ms-PL' is correct. (D) in the license mentions you just have to have a compatible license, which MIT should be.

I picked ms-pl for the WPF chrome project in the first place because I believed it to be compatible with MIT and similar licenses. I wrote the majority of the code while at Microsoft so the copyright is still there.

I am hesitant to offer further legal interpretation but the intent was for this use to be okay.

We're now at 77 / 102 - 75,5% people who have signed off on this.

Thanks everyone for getting to this so quickly! And also for those who helped me to find out if MIT license is compatible to MS-PL license!

Who has say something about it, they should do it now here.

If not, so I'm going to merge it in.

It's not goot to bind to ActualWidth of a Window, cause it gives us wrong values, it's maybe a WPF bug. So it's better to use the FlyoutsControl property.
