Welcome to the Makers' Map.

The purpose of this project is to (as the name suggests) Map out resources relevant to the Makers' Community.

It does so by collating:

• People
• Groups
• Places
• and Events
  and using Tags (eg. Metadata) to tease out those relationships.

Post-v.1, we'll include additional resources available, such as Tools (Library of Things), highlight Projects and/or P2P chat.

Ideally this site is more of an aggregation service - polling publicly-available API's & sources, such as MeetUp, FB, etc - rather than becoming yet another platform that needs to be maintained by users, unless they wish to.
Data collated should also be made available in an Open manner, so that users can make use of it in innovative ways, thereby adding additional value back to the Commons.

The use-case itch this is trying to solve is that Makers, users & other interested parties simply look at the Map, possibly provide some criteria to narrow the search/scope, and intuitively find local resources relevant to their interests.
This way way we hope to encourage or foster collaboration between People or Groups with shared interests & values, rather than have people feel isolated & trying to re-invent the wheel in isolation.
