FAQ
When I launch Mica For Everyone, it asks to download and install .NET Core but when I press Yes nothing happens.
It's not working for some reason, but you can download and install .NET Core 3.1 from this link to fix the problem.
Mica For Everyone officially supports Windows 11 (21H2) or newer. However, the app has also been confirmed to work on Windows 10 (version 2004) or higher, albeit with some notable limitations (see #65):
- Lack of backdrop type support.
- Right clicking the tray icon when it's pinned might cause the context menu to become unclosable.
- Trying to add a new rule using the Settings window causes the program to crash.
It's a bug in DWM, which was fixed in Windows 11 build 22557. Mica For Everyone has nothing to do with it.
Window doesn't have a backdrop background after enabling Extend Window Frame Into Client Area, or it's not rendering correctly
Just disable it. In some special cases like Console Host Window, it works. In most apps you would see white text on white background.
Create a rule for process or class of this window and set backdrop type and title bar color to default, also don't enable Extend Frame Into Client Area and Blur Behind. Mica For Everyone will ignore matching windows so it will display as if Mica For Everyone is not running.
You'll need to use Firefox 115 ESR or earlier (as 117 removed the "Glass" code which Mica For Everyone requires) and install a CSS theme that uses -moz-appearance: -moz-win-glass
.
- NOTE: The following instruction may not apply to all Chromium browsers.
- Use the
--disable-windows10-custom-titlebar
command line flag.
