Wild Magic

Wild magic is all around you. Indeed, once upon a time it was simply called magic. It is the power most potent in plant life in the wilds away from civilization.

Long ago, wild mages calling themselves Druid set themselves up as wardens of this magic, seeking to control and order its many rituals and spells and crafts. This first era was great, and the wilds thrived.

As years passed, subsequent Druids hungered for more power. Desperate, and thinking their own magic not enough, they reached through the worlds and made a pact with the Fey. This second era was marked with decadence.

It is not known if this decadence is the reason the Fey sealed all gateways, or if some powerful creature took offense at the actions of specific Druids, but soon all the ways between worlds were closed.

In this third era, which they themselves called “the Great Decline”, wild magic was as potent as ever, but it became ever-more ignored by the Druids. Seeking to regain but a small taste of the Fey, they constructed Groves in the hopes of reconnecting.

Connections were never established again, and soon, swayed by the promises of power in thaumaturgy and blood sacrifices, many who called themselves Druids turned their backs on the wilds.

This book seeks to present wild magic at its core. Rituals, spells and crafts are described, as well as how to awaken the latent magic within the seemingly mundane.

While not essential, the once-revered path of Pacifism is recommended to all aspiring wild mages. It is only through the respect of nature that the true balance of your powers can be achieved.
