Lake liming application

This project will develop a web application to:

  1. Calculate the effectiveness of different types of lime compared to a reference standard (or, alternatively, a well described and tested liming material).

  2. Model liming efficiency for lakes with different characteristics (residence time, mean depth etc.) and liming methods (e.g. wet versus dry spreading, such as application from boat versus helicopter).

The application will be used to support Miljødirektoratet’s liming activities – in particular, to help the agency choose between competing suppliers of different lime products.

The main deliverables are:

  • A publicly available web application hosted on NIVA’s servers
  • Comprehensive online documentation describing the web application, modelling methodology and code implementation
