I've encountered an issue with downloading files for older versions of the Falcor rendering engine via Packman. This is particularly critical because some academic papers' implementations are available only in these older versions. Unfortunately, when attempting to fetch files with external modules from the Packman servers, I receive a 403 error, indicating that the server is forbidding access to these resources.

Error Message:
The specific error message returned by Packman is as follows:
packman(ERROR): Unable to download file from 'https://d4i3qtqj3r0z5.cloudfront.net/falcor_media%40f625412e' (server returned 403)

Steps to Reproduce:
Attempt to install and compile older versions of the Falcor. 4.3, 4.4 for example

Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to any assistance you can provide.

I also have the same issue with version 7.0.

I had a same error( server returned 403) with tag 6.0 on Windows, and solved it by running

path\to\Falcor\tools\packman> packman update

Same problem with Falcor 3.2.1

Processing project file 'D:\Falcor-3.2.1\dependencies.xml'
Package 'dxcompiler' at version '10.0.17763.0' is missing from local storage.
packman(ERROR): Unable to download file from 'https://d4i3qtqj3r0z5.cloudfront.net/dxcompiler%4010.0.17763.0' (server returned 403)

I can see packman.cmd, and packman under Falcor-3.2.1/packman, but running as @NoSW proposed is returning message:

PS D:\Falcor-3.2.1\packman> .\packman update
usage: packman [--version] [-h]
               {cache,help,install,list,pack,publish,push,pull,verify,run,remotes,hash,project}
               ...
packman: error: invalid choice: 'update' (choose from 'cache', 'help', 'install', 'list', 'pack', 'publish', 'push', 'pull', 'verify', 'run', 'remotes', 'hash', 'project')

There is no update option. Any suggestion?
