Adding "Gestures and Allegories" in the menu #90
Comments
We do have iconclass codes as part of the metadata, but we are not predicting them at the moment. |
I'm tagging @pasqLisena to also include/load the IconClass vocabulary in https://vocab.odeuropa.eu/ |
I think this merits a discussion. Even if WP2 is not predicting from Iconclass, a separate tab where we collect allegories of smell would be very useful to the visitors of the explorer. It would be a way to accommodate better for museum curators. However, I do understand that we would then have to select materials through another strategy. And: perhaps the redundancy with the gesture page will be too high. So I suggest that we first work on the gestures and then decide on the allegories |
I was thinking to group gestures and allegories on the same page but you would like to make two different pages/menu items? |
Perfect, you can therefore include this page and we need to ask experts for illustrative examples of these gestures (which could be picked from our own collection) |
While we have proposed to remove "Carriers" from the menu in Issue #49 , we should also add instead a new menu entry named 'Gestures and Allegories'.
The values for Gestures should be taken from https://vocab.odeuropa.eu/olfactory-gestures/en/.
@ehrhart Can you make a quick query to get the number of objects we have using these annotations for each of the 35 concepts?
As for 'Allegories', I suppose that the right concepts should be taken from IconClass but I'm not sure how much we use it today in WP2. This is a question for @mathiaszinnen @prathmeshrmadhu: what are your annotations refer to currently from your system? Are you returning IconClass concepts for example?
