Does OpMon have anything to do with Tuxemon? #66
-
Tuxemon is another open source pet capture game, developed using PyGame, and I'm curious, what are the similarities and differences between OpMon and Tuxemon besides having a different storyline, using a different game engine, and being free software? Thank you for your answer! |

I'm not really informed about what they're doing with Tuxemon, to be honest! But I can tell you that OpMon will diverge a bit from the original Pokemon games, with a more adventure-oriented overworld gameplay with more wild battles (with stronger wild creatures to level up, replacing the numerous weak trainers of Pokemon) and less trainer battles (but the trainers will be stronger and more memorable). I'm not afraid to deviate from the Pokemon formula, which I intend to use as a solid foundation for developing a different but similar formula. I still want the game to be able to be considered a Pokemon fan game, so it will remain similar, no differences will completely revolutionize the gameplay, it will mainly be additions or modifications intended to accentuate a specific side of the original games that I want to focus on (for the above mentionned examples, the adventure feeling and important battles). So, to properly answer the question, I think the main answer would be "the direction". I don’t think we have the same goal as a Pokemon fan-game, I don’t think we want to make players feel the same things. But I could be wrong; I hardly know Tuxemon and I don’t know what they intend to do with it. |

Going back to Tuxemon, Tuxemon to me is like...... A different monster capture game (although when I introduced Tuxemon to my friends most people thought it was some version of Pokemon but it felt really different to me) the novel storyline and free software features attracted me and I thought OpMon would give me another different feel |
