Feature or improvement description
This pull request removes the integrations to Codecov and code coverage report generation introduced by pull request #836. The Codecov integration is noisy and buggy. For reference, see this issue in the Codecov community forums.

The code coverage reports could still be generated and posted to GitHub Actions artifacts. This may be useful in the future, but it's not immediately useful or practical.
