I've just heard (http://channel9.msdn.com/Shows/Cloud+Cover/Episode-160-Event-Hubs-with-Elio-Damaggio) that Halo is using Azure Event Hub with Orleans. I would like to hear more about Event Hubs and howthe integration with Orleans is done. |
I would like to hear @yevhen talk about his Orleans.Bus project and Orleans patterns / best practices. |
Ha, ye. This is possible. 2014-12-09 16:34 GMT+02:00 Jakub Konecki notifications@github.com:

@yevhen Sounds good to me. Can we pencil you in for a Jan meetup? |
@yevhen - I would think talk + code samples is enough. |
Ah, it's for January. I was thinking that will be next week =) 2014-12-09 17:28 GMT+02:00 Richard Astbury notifications@github.com:

Sweet! |
Another topic idea: a general questions and answers meeting with people who are running Orleans in production to talk about tips, issues and gotchas they've encountered. |
Great idea. Perhaps have a panel, and a few questions prepared? -----Original Message----- Another topic idea: a general questions and answers meeting with people who are running Orleans in production to talk about tips, issues and gotchas they've encountered. |
I already have have a bunch of questions - just need someone to answer them On Mon, 22 Dec 2014 20:15 Richard Astbury notifications@github.com wrote:

What about inviting Orleans' authors? Sergey, Gabi, Niclaus. 22 дек. 2014, в 22:52, Jakub Konecki notifications@github.com написал(а):

That would be great! On Tue, 23 Dec 2014 04:47 Yevhen Bobrov notifications@github.com wrote:

We can definitely do that. Gabi Kliot |
Awesome. I'd be really interested to hear about:
We've got @yevhen lined up for the next meetup and @ReubenBond some time after that. Perhaps we could squeeze a 'panel discussion' somewhere in-between - or afterwards? If you guys could provide a preferred date and time (preferably by forking the repo and updating the readme) then I'll sort the google hangout stuff. |
Sounds great. We will coordinate with Sergey and update everyone. Gabi |
I'd very much like to see a discussion from the Orleans team. Everything @richorama mentioned, particularly the roadmap. |
I concur. On Tue, 23 Dec 2014 23:23 Reuben Bond notifications@github.com wrote:

Hi, guys The start of January is usually busy here, due to New Year and XMas celebrated on 7th of Jan. It's basically a party period until 14 of Jan :) I'll be on vacation for a few weeks as well, so it's safe to say that I can participate not earlier than end of January - say Jan 26 is more or less real. Is that ok for everyone? If not - then we can schedule panel with guys from Orleans team first, and then next meetup dedicate to contrib projects. |
Should we do the roadmap/Q&A discussion next week? How about Monday late morning PST, so that it's not too late in Europe and not too early in Australia? Will this work for you guys? |
Works for me -----Original Message----- Should we do the roadmap/Q&A discussion next week? How about Monday late morning PST, so that it's not too late in Europe and not too early in Australia? Will this work for you guys? |
Ok for me

I should make it as well. On Wed, 7 Jan 2015 23:14 Reuben Bond notifications@github.com wrote:

Yeah that'll work for me! |
Great, how about 11am PST, which is 7pm GMT and 6am on Tuesday in Melbourne: http://www.worldtimebuddy.com/?qm=1&lid=8,2158177,2643743&h=8&date=2015-1-12&sln=11-12 |
Sounds good to me. If it's not too early for AU folks. Should we do it in Google Hangout again? I've never used it before. Am I reading it right that it's limited to 10 concurrent users? |
I am away skiing next week - I hope to catch up with folk when I get back... |
Oh, I see that Richard already create one. Thanks! |
Great. I've set up a hangout, I'll invite you to it later on. 10 is the limit for presenters, the number of viewers is unlimited. I'll also add the folks contributing on this thread as presenters. @david enjoy the skiing! -----Original Message----- I am away skiing next week - I hope to catch up with folk when I get back... |
Great. That should be plenty. :-) |
You (should) be able to join the hangout as a presenter using this link: https://plus.google.com/hangouts/_/hoaevent/AP36tYfbH6alRA_M7xLFZ5i9Lj5RNiMjrgziNftchl6cOKCJTq4hHA |
Sounds good! But when is the next meetup? :) |
Whenever you like! Usually one evening at 7pm. |
Perfect, I'll get back to you :) |
Just to be clear - 7pm GMT / 11am PST is the usual time slot. |
Feb 16, 19, 22, 26 or later? @ReubenBond? |
Feb 22, 26, & later work for me. |
Feb 26? |
Great, let's do 26th Feb 19:00 UTC I'll set up the hangout in the next day or so. I look forward to it! |
Would anyone but up for presenting on a show dedicated to telemetry and monitoring? As discussed with @sergeybykov on gitter it could cover:
|
It would be great to do meetup themed on deploying and updating Orleans. Does anyone have an interesting strategy for this that they can share? |
I've just got my custom Octopus Deploy step template for YAMS included into Octopus Library. I could briefly explain how we host Orleans using Yams and deploy using Octopus - I would imagine 10 mins will suffice. |
@jkonecki sounds great. Would be particularly interested in:
|
@jkonecki how do you notify clients so they can reconnect (restore stream subscriptions)? |
When should we do the meetup? Thursday December 8th? |
@sergeybykov good idea, before people get too busy with the festive period. @jkonecki are you available? |
Yes, 8th Dec is fine for me

What time will work reasonably for AU-EU-US? 7 MEL-SYD / 12 PST / 20 BST? |

Looking for a topic for the next meetup, if anyone is interested? One suggestion I have is a 'deep dive on Orleans internals'. |
I like that topic. |
FSM could be the other choice. @johnazariah can guide us through his new shiny project, @jkonecki may share experience with Stateless, I can talk about switchable behaviors in Orleankka. |
Happy to!!!

I can show how we're using Stateless + Orleankka + Events - won't take more
than 5 mins though

Would people find a mailing list useful, to announce meetups? |
Yes. Also other announcements like releases / conferences / presentations /
blog posts.

I think Mailing lists get things lost specially if you deal with a big amount of emails... Would be better if you create an Issue with an announcement, just like asp.net people do. Whoever is subscribed will be notified. |
@galvesribeiro You mean a single issue in dotnet/orleans? I like that better than a mailing list. |
@sergeybykov I meant something like this https://github.com/aspnet/Announcements Whenever they want to publish an announcement, everyone gets notified. This repo has just it. All issues are closed etc. But they have their own organization, Orleans doesn't. So I suggest create a repo like that here in OrleansContrib org just for that. So all blog post, release, breaking change get notified here. |
I think that's a good idea.

I have created an announcements repo: https://github.com/OrleansContrib/Announcements |
Thread to discuss topics you would like to cover. Please also suggest talks you would like to give.
