sourcetype=pan:system signature="*fail" type events should be tagged as authentication. Should have a user, and a src, and an action at least.

Thanks for opening this issue. Sorry, I'm not sure I understand. Can you tell me what CIM tags should be applied to these logs?

This data should have an event type, and be mapped into Network sessions, and perhaps more.

sourcetype=pan:system signature=“*fail”

should have CIM fields relevant for VPN authentication failures.

Hi PAN team,

We have been using the following to map the PAN GP logs to enhance the mapping to the CIM Data Models:

  • Authentication
  • Network Traffic
  • Network Sessions / VPN.

Feel free to have a look. Though for GP Traffic, the src_zone=gp* could be different as per customers' environments.
