Add a patch to fix the generating spinner freezing when CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC is set

I'm using the latest version of tweakcc and Claude Code. Bringing token count and elapsed time back is awesome, but I found that the toggle of reverse-mirror phases would not work as expected.

Hi @heromantf, the "reverse-mirror phases" setting controls whether the phases should be mirrored when they're fully cycled through or just restarted. I should simplify that name. I turned off the setting and it works fine for me:

I'm using the Ghostty terminal, and also using Claude Code with ccstatusline. Here is the video after switching off the toggle. I think this is not what it should be.

That does look strange. The spinner doesn't seem to be animating at all. Do any of the other presets animate when you use them in Claude Code?

I'm sorry for not being more clear! I meant to say, try out some different presets in tweakcc and then apply the customizations to try them in Claude Code. Like the Wave or Circle presets for example. Based on your video, it appears that inside Claude Code, the spinner isn't animating at all, but rather is staying on the first phase of the preset you selected. I want to understand whether that's specific to the Glow preset or happens with them all.

I tried few more animations even with the toggle on. It seems that the spinner still uses the original shining effect instead of new animations.

Weird! Something's wrong then. Did the spinner animate in Claude Code before you used tweakcc? Try running tweakcc again using the Restore original Claude Code option and then try claude again.

After restoring back, the spinner still uses the shining effect. It reminds me that after an arbitrary upgrade of Claude Code, the spinner started to use this shining effect. It that just me or others as well?

I found that in the changelog of version 1.0.83, it said "New shimmering spinner". I think this should be the shining spinner in my situation.

Yes, the shimmering affect is a recent addition. You can effectively disable it, if you'd like, by changing the claudeShimmer color to same value as the claude color; see here. I have the shimmering effect on, but it's not stopping my spinner from animating. One thing that's odd about it is that I can see in one of your GIFs the preview of the spinner animating inside tweakcc was working.

Would you mind sending your whole cli.js file so I can test it out? Also you could try claude in a different terminal in case it's Ghostty that's somehow the problem.

This is the original cli.js on my machine. Yep, the animation in the preview works great, that's really weird, and after I changing the shimmer color, the spinner still not animate at all. Also, I have tried it in the iterm2 and got the same results.

Well, I used your exact same cli.js file, and it works fine for me. I'm on Windows and it works fine in Windows Terminal and VS Code's terminal. Your cli.js file's hash is a3669a7f28f6445f2739a20db9be773540228a521b6ca34e2f93d98b4b054599, which is the hash for the unmodified cli.js file from CC 1.0.92. It's definitely not a tweakcc problem.

Do you have any configurations like proxies you're using with CC or environment variables you've set for it?

I'm on macOS, and yes I have the proxy settings pointed to my proxy software running on the machine for some reasons, also I have set CLAUDE_CODE_DISABLE_NONESSENTIAL_TRAFFIC to 1 in the env. That's might be a bug of Claude Code for sure.

That could be the problem. There's logic in the spinner code in cli.js to change the speed of the animation based on various conditions.
