I thought this could be done with documents.create, but have tested and found that no tabs are created. Google doesn't yet support creating document tabs programmatically, but there is an issue being tracked to add that functionality. I'll check back periodically to see if the issue has been updated.

It looks like reading Google Docs tabs isn't working either — is that part of the same issue?

Hi @michelle0927 , thanks — I saw that your PR was merged!

From what I understand, it enables reading the full content of a document, including all tabs, which is great.
I was wondering — would it also be possible to support reading just a specific tab's content, for example from a URL like:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/ID/edit?tab=TAB_ID?

Would it make sense to open a separate issue for that request?
