I don't know if this even can be fixed without causing more severe lighting issues.

Maybe make the light grid 4 times smaller?

Dynamic light grid sizes would make it a lot slower, and storage would also be more difficult.
Also just making it 2× smaller, would make everything 8 times more expensive.
