We occasionally run into very cryptic ABORT signals being raised during the heartbeat tests (specifically signal 6); there is a decent chance this is being caused by the fact that our tests manipulate shared objects, whereas in practice they are not stateful (they simply make a POST request). We should refactor the tests to reflect that (possibly by writing to a file?) and see if that makes these errors go away
