Here I will describe the installation on a "modern" 64 Bit Linux system based on Ubuntu/Debian. It should work on other Distros too. Name of the dependencies may be slightly different. There is already a solution to run KDX on modern systems via "Docker" but I prefer to run it "native" under the host OS.
For Windows and Mac you can directly start over (to the Documentation.pdf) and no extra installation is necessary. But for mac you must Download this KDX "Suite" (Winewrapper) before:
git clone https://github.com/profdrluigi/haxial-kdx
chmod +x KDX\ Client/*.lexe
chmod +x KDX\ Server/*.lexe
chmod +x KDX\ Tracker/*.lexe
sudo apt install libstdc++5:i386
cd "KDX Server"
./KDXServer.lexe

Setup complete!
23/04/12 01:01:05 PM [] KDX Server started on 10.0.0.1:10700, 192.168.178.21:10700, 192.168.122.1:10700, 172.17.0.1:10700
After the setup is done and the server running you can now config your file structure (starts in Bases/Default):
drwx------ 2 pi pi 4096 Apr 12 14:58 'Admin Dropbox [DB]'
drwx------ 2 pi pi 4096 Apr 12 14:58 'Uploads [UL]'
drwx------ 2 pi pi 4096 Apr 12 14:58 'Software'
If needed you can now symlink the "Default" folder to another place on your harddisk. For further Details of using DropBox and UL Folders have at look at Page 21 in the Documentation.pdf
Nearly the same like the server with slightly differences. Have a further look at the Documentation.pdf
sudo apt install libx11-6:i386
cd "KDX Client"
./KDXClient.lexe
It's important to use the original "initial" config file (KDX.stg) because there is the registration inside. Without it the client will nag you with "Support Development of KDX" popups. I don't think you want that. :)
If you have problems to install the i386 libs do
sudo dpkg --add-architecture i386
sudo apt-get update
before and try again. That should solve it.
