• However, nothing displayed on the UI has been restored, and the related files haven't been restored either.
• In fact, the tasks appear to be restored, but this doesn't update the UI because it re-executes the restored tasks and then informs me that the tasks have been completed.

I've seen your comment and analyzed the checkpoint restore flow. Based on your description that "tasks appear to be restored, but it re-executes the restored tasks," I've identified the root cause:

When checkpoint restore completes, it calls cancelTask() which rehydrates the task with startTask: true by default. This causes the restored task to auto-resume and re-execute its message history instead of just displaying the restored state.

I'll work on a fix that prevents the task from auto-starting after checkpoint restoration. Will open a PR to share progress.

Opened #10403 with my attempt at addressing this. The fix prevents checkpoint restore from auto-resuming tasks by passing startTask: false through the restore flow. Feedback welcome!

No, I think you've missed the point or I haven't described it clearly. I think the task appears to have been restored to the checkpoint, but the checkpoint isn't being restored in the UI. On the other hand, restoring the file to the checkpoint doesn't seem to be working.

2. File restoration not working: The actual file changes are not being reverted to the checkpoint state
