The Library

The library is where you'll spend most of your time in FRESHMusicPlayer.

Importing tracks

When you first start FRESHMusicPlayer, you'll be greeted with an empty library. From here, you can import tracks into FMP using drag and drop. If you go into the Import tab, you'll have several more options:

  • Browsing for tracks - Opens a file chooser, where you can choose tracks to add to the library
  • Browsing for playlist files - Opens a file chooser, where you can choose a playlist file (such as .m3u) to import
  • Browsing for folders - Opens a file chooser, where you can choose a folder to import all audio files. This includes all of its subfolders.
  • Manual - You can manually type a file path to an audio file here, or a URL to a network stream.

Browsing the library

You can see the library in 3 views: all tracks, artists, and albums. To switch between them, click the tabs in the NavBar at the top of the window.

  • Tracks - Shows a listing of all tracks in your library, sorted alphabetically.
  • Artists - Shows a listing of all artists in your library. Selecting an artist will populate the right pane with all tracks for that artist. If you need more space to view artists, or to view tracks, you can move the divider between the panes.
  • Albums - Shows a listing of all albums in your library. Selecting an artist will populate the right pane with all tracks for that album. If you need more space to view artists, or to view tracks, you can move the divider between the panes.
  • In all views, you will see a small pane on the bottom, which shows how many tracks are visible, and the total runtime for all visible tracks. You can use the Enqueue All and Play All buttons to quickly play all visible tracks.

Shortcuts

When you go to the artist and album tabs, the left pane is automatically focused, ready for you to use the keyboard to jump to entries in the pane.
